Pyrographers deserve better tools!
When I started pyrography in October 2019, I was amazed to find that there were few tools made for pyrography artists. There are a wide variety of burners and pens but not much more. We make due with tools designed for other mediums, not because they work but because we have to. We deserve better!
Pyrography is different.
Pyrography isn't like other art mediums. We don't add material to a canvas to create an image. Instead, we change the canvas by creating a chemical reaction with heat. Our canvas isn't a pristine field of pure white. It's a awkward piece of living material that will continue to change long after the work is done. All of this creates unique problems that require unique solutions.
A different approach.
Great pyrography takes time and patience. There's no getting around it, I've tried. But the more time you spend burning, the less patience you have. So what's the solution? My approach is to reduce movement to make burning more comfortable. By creating an organized workspace, you can save time on each burn and have more fun doing it.
So how can you organize your workspace?
Your most used items should be closest to you. Pens in use and tip cleaning materials should be directly in front of you. The burner needs to be close enough to adjust and see but not get in the way. Additional pens and other accessories (writing utensils, sandpaper, snacks) should be easily visible and within arms reach. So how do you make this happen? That's where I'm here to help!
Designed for pyrography artists by a pyrography artist.
My first pyrography tool was released in Dec 2021, the Shine Box Deluxe. The Shine Box Deluxe is designed to simplify tip cleaning and provide a safe place to set pens in use while hot or not. The attached leather strop and denim patch make tip maintenance quick and simple. The low profile design stays out of the way and packs away easily.
Several tools are in development and will be released in the future. From pen organizers to full workstations, you'll wonder how you survived this long without them!
